Linha de Investigação Migração e Género, Ep. 5

Ao longo dos 16 dias de ativismo, a linha de investigação Migração e Género da NOVA Refugee Legal Clinic, assinalou a campanha internacional de ativismo contra a violência sexual com 5 zoomcasts que abordam os diferentes patamares e tipologias de violência e discriminação que aumentam o risco da população refugiada e migrante de sobreviver a casos específicos de Violência Sexual e de Género.

No nosso último zoomcast damos as boas-vindas às investigadoras da equipa Migração e Género da NOVA Refugee Legal Clinic: Joana Nunes, Rafaela Rocha e Joana Graça. Os comentários ficam a cargo da team leader da linha de investigação Migração e Género, Tatiana Morais.

Na primeira parte Joana Nunes abordará os “Direitos Reprodutivos e a Concessão de Estatuto de Pessoa Refugiada”; na segunda parte Rafaela Rocha abordará os “Direitos Laborais e as múltiplas discriminações  que a População Migrante enfrenta em Portugal” e a campanha “Traduz-te em Força” e na terceira parte Joana Graça abordará “A violência sexual e de género que as mulheres Rohingya enfrentam nos campos de população refugiada”.

Linha de Investigação Migração e Género, Ep. 4 – The corporate Responsability to respect Human Rights

To mark the 16 days of activism, the Gender and Migration research line at NOVA Refugee Legal Clinic is launching a mini-series of zoomcasts. In today’s zoomcast, on the International Human Rights day, we welcome Professor Claire Bright, who will talk about “The corporate Responsability to respect Human Rights”.

Professor Bright is Assistant Professor in Private Law and the Director of the Nova Centre on Business, Human Rights and the Environment at Nova Law School in Lisbon, as well as an Associate Research Fellow at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. She holds a PhD in International Law from the European University Institute, an LL.M in Private International Law and International Commercial Law from La Sorbonne Law School and a Double Bachelor’s degree in French and English Law from UPEC.

Professor Bright regularly organizes short courses, events and trainings in the field of Business, Human Rights and Sustainability. Her work to date has resulted in a number of peer-reviewed scientific publications in English, French, Italian and Spanish. In addition, she has acted as a consultant and contributed to various expert studies and policy reports for Governments, civil society organizations as well as European and International organizations; including a recent study for the European Commission on due diligence requirements through the supply chains on the basis of which EU Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, announced the introduction of an EU-level legislative initiative on mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence in 2021.

Linha de Investigação Migração e Género, Ep. 3 – Greek asylum system and women’s protection

To mark the 16 days of activism, the Gender and Migration research line at NOVA Refugee Legal Clinic is launching a mini-series of zoomcasts. In today’s zoomcast, we welcome Dimitra Fragkou and Lia Kallini, who will talk about the Greek asylum system and women’s protection.

Dimitra is the team leader of the Migration and Armed conflict at NOVA Refugee Legal Clinic (http://novarefugeelegalclinic.cedis.f…). She is also a PhD Candidate at NOVA School of Law. Dimitra received her master’s degree on Public International Law, International Criminal Law and Law of Armed Conflict in the Democritus University of Thrace. Since 2016 she has worked as a lawyer with the Greek Council for Refugees in emergency settings in Northern Greece. She was a Legal Counsellor for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and was appointed as a focal point for Victims of Torture in Northern Greece. She has also served as a caseworker for the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) in the Aegean islands. Her current project focuses on the protection of victims of torture in the Common European Asylum System.

Lia was granted a law degree from the Aristoteleio University of Thessaloniki and has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer in labor, migration and refugee law. Lia has been working in the humanitarian sector as protection and legal expert with UNHCR since 2016, covering protection in camps in Northern Greece, detention and border monitoring, as well as RIS. Since August 2020, she joined Intervolves Irida Women Center in Thessaloniki (https://www.iridacenter.org/our-team/), as Head of Legal and Integration, supporting women asylum seekers and refugees with their increasing needs of legal aid and representation. Para assinalar os 16 dias de ativismo, a linha de investigação Migração e Género da NOVA Refugee Clinic está a realizar uma minissérie de zoomcasts. No zoomcast de hoje, damos as boas-vindas a Laura Marchesini, especialista em Violência Sexual e de Género, que irá abordar alguns mecanismos de sobrevivência adotados pelas mulheres em contexto de emergência humanitária.

Violência Sexual e de Género, Episódio 1: UMAR – União de Mulheres Alternativa e Resposta

25 de Novembro, Dia Internacional pela Eliminação da Violência contra a Mulher.
Este dia marca, simultaneamente, o início dos 16 dias de ativismo, uma campanha internacional de combate à violência contra mulheres e meninas, que decorre anualmente entre 25 de Novembro e 10 de Dezembro (Dia Internacional dos Direitos Humanos).
Este ano a linha de investigação de Migração e género da NOVA Refugee Legal Clinic assinala os 16 dias de ativismo com uma mini série de zoomcasts acerca da violência sexual e de género.
No nosso primeiro zoomcast conheceremos a UMAR – União de Mulheres Alternativa e Resposta, que desde 1976 tem tido um papel fundamental na luta feminista em Portugal.
